Senior Business Analyst
About Project Tree
At Project Tree, we bridge the gap between complex business challenges and elegant technical solutions. As a premier IT service provider in Gujarat, we specialize in building scalable, future-ready applications. We are looking for a strategically minded Senior Business Analyst to join our leadership team and drive the discovery and design of high-impact digital products.
Role Overview
As a Senior Business Analyst at Project Tree, you will act as the bridge between C-suite stakeholders and our high-performance engineering squads. You are a consultant at heart, responsible for navigating ambiguity to define product roadmaps. You will lead the “Discovery Phase” of enterprise projects, ensuring that every requirement is anchored in a clear business objective.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Consulting: Act as a trusted advisor to clients, leading discovery workshops to uncover pain points, identify needs, and translate them into a high-level product vision.
- Advanced Backlog Governance: Own the product backlog, lead refinement sessions, and ensure user stories meet the highest “Definition of Ready” (DoR) standards.
- Requirement Lifecycle: Lead discovery workshops to elicit, analyze, and document requirements. Use Jira and Confluence to maintain a “Single Source of Truth” for all requirement specifications.
- Documentation & Specification: Prepare and maintain high-quality documentation, including Business Requirement Documents (BRD), System Requirement Specifications (SRS), and comprehensive user guides.
- Strategic Project Management: Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Proactively monitor progress, identify potential risks/issues, and provide transparent updates to stakeholders to ensure timelines are met.
- Visual Solutioning: Design sophisticated business process models (BPMN), user journeys, and collaborate with UI/UX designers on high-fidelity wireframes using Figma or Miro.
- Change Management: Assess the impact of requirement changes on project scope and timelines, and negotiate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations.
- Technical Interface: Review API documentation and data models to ensure functional requirements are technically feasible for the development team.
- Mentorship & Quality: Lead the BA community within Project Tree by establishing standardized templates for BRDs/FRDs and mentoring junior analysts on elicitation techniques.
- UAT Strategy: Define the strategy for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and act as the final authority on whether a feature meets the “Definition of Done” (DoD).
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of proven experience as a Business Analyst in an IT services or software environment.
- Tools: Expert-level proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and visual modeling tools (Miro, Lucidchart, Figma).
- Methodology: Deep expertise in Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, and Kanban frameworks.
- Documentation: Proven ability to produce high-quality BRDs, SRS, and traceability matrices.
- Modeling: Advanced knowledge of BPMN 2.0 and UML (use case, sequence, and class diagrams).
- Technical Literacy: Comfortable writing SQL queries and analyzing REST API structures.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Certifications: CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis) is highly preferred.
- Technical Extras: Knowledge of SQL and database management; experience with business process modeling.
Soft Skills
- Stakeholder Management & Negotiation: Proven ability to manage complex relationships with C-suite executives and project sponsors; skilled at navigating conflicting priorities to align stakeholders with the product roadmap.
- Executive Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical solutions and project risks clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: A collaborative mindset with experience leading sessions between developers, QA teams, and product owners to ensure a unified understanding of the project’s “Definition of Done” (DoD).
- Active Listening & Empathy: Strong ability to elicit unspoken requirements by understanding user pain points and business context.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to manage scope creep and handle difficult conversations regarding project timelines and resource constraints with professionalism.
What We Offer
- Career Evolution: We offer a merit-based progression path from Trainee BA → Junior BA → BA → Senior BA → Lead BA, culminating in Principal BA. Your journey is defined by transitioning from technical execution to strategic architectural governance.
- Technical Autonomy: Influence the product roadmap and suggest architectural improvements that drive business value.
- Project Tree Life: Enjoy a vibrant culture with frequent team lunches, dinners, annual trips, and our signature cricket tournaments.
